Children’s Ministry Training Centre
Jackson’s Ridge is first and foremost a children’s ministry training centre. Saturday workshops as well as full weekends, and some 5-day specialised training camps will equip you to meet the needs of the children in your community.
4-Level Training
JR runs 4 levels of training for children’s workers: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Speciality. The more serious you are about answering the call of God on your life to minister to children, the more we can offer you. From the basics of Lesson Planning, Storytelling and Scripture Memorization through to specialized areas of children’s ministry such as Puppetry, Ventriloquism and Toddler Training.

Foundational / Beginner
The aim of this track is to equip CM to:
- Establish a solid practical foundation to effectively reach and teach children.
- Establish a standard for CM who teach age-specific classes within a Children’s Church Program.
This is a 1-day course which is run at JR on a Saturday, from 9.00am to 4.30pm. Alternatively, JR can come to your church to assist you with this basic training for your volunteers and workers
Intermediate
The aim of this track is to equip CM to:
- Increase the effectiveness and ability of CM’s to reach and teach children with a wider range of topics.
- Equip CM’s to effectively run a multi-aged program within a Children’s Church Program.
- Enable teachers to teach basic church doctrines to the children, at their level
This is also a 1-day course that is run at JR on a Saturday. It is usually held in conjunction with our “Beginner” and “Advanced” programs thereby assisting churches to bring back their volunteers for training on a yearly basis. These 4 basic training programs are usually held twice a year, in January and July.
Advanced
The aim of this track is to:
- Prepare well-trained Leaders for Children’s Ministry.
- Give good structure for effective ministry to children
- Equip leaders to prepare volunteers for ministry
- Build strong teams to reach out to children
A 1-day training held ar JR, twice a year – January and July
Specialty
The aim of this track is to:
- Assist CM’s to increase their range of abilities to further impact the lives of children.
- Equip CM’s to specialize in specific areas to broaden their reach to children and to prepare people to begin to teach the body of Christ on these topics.
All of the specialty programs are usually run either as a 1-day course on its own, or even a weekend, depending on the topic. Much more time is needed to equip people to begin to grasp these wonderful teaching tools for children. Regular promotional flyers are sent out to our database to advise churches of these courses.
A course for “Special Needs” ministry is usually held in conjunction with our other basic training courses. This is a specialized ministry however, we try to run it as often as we can to assist the church with this ever-growing need. In the past, special needs have been largely ignored. JR hopes to change this by providing training as regularly as we can.
